I know that the words “hybrid” and “update” make many shoe aficionados cringe, but Nike has a pretty impressive track record with retooling classic ACG models. And next up is the Nike Air Lava Dome 2012, a revamped version of the Lava Dome and definitely one of the impressive updates.
Sporting the rugged, utilitarian yet sporty and fashionable style expected of ACG models (or ACG updates), the Air Lava Dome 2012 features suede overlays set against protective ripstop nylon inlays, with warm textile inner-lining finishing the upper.
The durable outsole sports oversized lugs for traction, while the gummy green-tinted off-white colorings adds a little flair. Expect these on shelves before the year is out and stay tuned for more concrete release info.

Admittedly, that’s the most misleading title I’ve ever used. Yes, technically the Tigers wore a new LSU football helmet Saturday against North Texas, but it’s by far the most subtle of all the college football uniform changes we documented this year. USC adding Flywire to their collar is an Oregon-esque departure in comparison.
“LSU” now graces the front of the helmet above the facemask, the first time the team has featured that on their standard gold helmet. Last season they did likewise, but it was on the special Nike Pro Combat one-off lid they wore against Auburn. This replaces the usual “TIGERS” in the same spot.
